Press release from Interfaith Assistance Ministry:
Interfaith Assistance Ministry is closing for the holidays beginning Monday, December 23rd at 1 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2020.
IAM will reopen at 9 a.m. to provide Henderson County residents in crisis with vital services of rent, power, water, food, clothing, prescriptions, bus tickets and more. Donations of clothing and food and other items will not be accepted from December 24- January 1st.
“Our neighbors in need have received assistance with heating, blankets, food, warm coats, rent and more thanks to the generosity of our community,” said Executive Director Elizabeth Willson Moss. Through Monday, Dec. 16, IAM had provided 1,166 children and adults with a complete holiday meal they can enjoy at home.
“IAM is so blessed by the volunteer time our 360-plus volunteers provide to our neighbors in need,” Moss said. “We look forward to serving alongside of them when we reopen in January.”
IAM, a 501c3 nonprofit, was founded in 1984 to serve as a clearing house for local faith congregations to assist area residents in financial crisis with food, clothing, shoes, utility bill and rent assistance. Over the years IAM’s services have increased to include personal hygiene items, prescription assistance, linens, blankets, school supplies, transportation assistance, pet food, medical cost assistance, food for a week’s worth of three meals a day, a Working Women’s Clothing Closet and more. Please make donations via IAM’s website or mail to P.O Box 2562, Hendersonville, NC, 28792.
If you would like to volunteer with an organization that gives hope and provides basic needs to struggling local residents, please call the volunteer managers at 697-7029 and arrange a tour.
