Jackson County welcomes donations

Press release from Jackson County:

Jackson County officials are now welcoming donations to support local relief efforts. Jackson County Emergency Management Director Todd Dillard advises, “For those who would like to contribute, please consider donating to our local non-profit organizations, as the Jackson County Government cannot accept monetary donations directly.”

The most needed items include:

  •  Bottled water
  •  Cleaning supplies
  •  Non-perishable, prepackaged food
  • Diapers
  •  Hygiene products
  •  Individually packaged dog/cat food items

Please check expiration dates before donating food. Note that homemade food cannot be accepted at this time, and there is currently no need for clothing donations. Please refrain from buying bulk items as it is difficult to divide up evenly between families.

For donations coming from outside of the county, if you plan to move people, resources, or equipment into western North Carolina, you MUST coordinate plans and movements through the NCEM-BEOC. You can email your supply logistics or movement requests to:

● BEOC@ncdps.gov

● Begin Subject Line with: Logistics Support
