Press release from Buncombe County Government:
On July 5, 2023, the Jail Inspector with the Division of Health Service Regulation conducted their biannual inspection to “determine compliance with 10 NCAC Subchapters 14J-Jails, Local Confinement Facilities” and “found no deficiencies, no correction action is necessary, and no further action on your part is required.” This inspection looked at both the Buncombe County Detention Facility’s main facility and annex.
A recent report by Disability Rights NC found that, “nearly 40 percent of the state’s 109 jails failed every inspection during the review period …”
“Thank you to Major Banks, Captain Littrell and all of our supervisors, Detention Officers, administrative staff and medical team that keep our facility running 24/7/365. In my opinion they have the toughest job in law enforcement. We have a clean and safe jail in Buncombe County thanks to the hard work of these many individuals,” says Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller.
