Asheville City Soccer Club (ACSC) is proud to announce Jimena Rojas Cordero as its new Women’s Head Coach entering the 2022 USL W League Season.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of Asheville City SC. This is a special place for women’s soccer, one I have watched & admired from afar. I love the soccer culture of the city & the energy that all bring come game day. I can not wait until we get to host our first game at Memorial & get to hear the South Slope Blues cheering us on. We are all fortunate to be a part of this storied club & I look forward to building on that success,” said Cordero.

Originally from Costa Rica, Cordero was the first female to actively coach on a Men’s D1 Pro Team, worked as an Assistant and Fitness Coach for the Universidad de Costa Rica and spent three years with the Costa Rican Olympic Committee as a Sports Performance Analyst and Biomechanics Specialist.  Before moving on to coach on the men’s side, Jimena led a 1st Division Women’s Professional team in Costa Rica, Arenal Coronado, for 3 seasons.

Jimena is an accomplished coach and maintains prestigious licenses including an ‘A’ license from both the German Soccer Federation & the Costa Rican Soccer Federation. She also has an ‘A’ License in Fitness Training from the Costa Rican Soccer Federation.

Founded in 2016, ACSC was created as a way to help local players pursue their dreams and grow the game while using soccer as a way to give back to the community. Asheville City’s women’s and men’s teams will return to play in the summer of 2022.
