Julie Schantz, owner of Asheville Henna, is offering professional henna tattoos from within her Woolworth Walk boutique through this fall. Appointments are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fridays from noon to 4 p.m., and Saturdays (walk-ins only) from noon to 4 p.m.

“Henna is a natural dye used to decorate the surface of the skin,” she explains. “The henna dye stains the skin a stunning, reddish-brown color for up to three weeks. Henna tattoos are safe, natural, painless and temporary — the perfect solution for people who aren’t ready for the commitment (or pain) of a permanent tattoo. However, people from all walks of life, young and old, enjoy the beautiful and intricate art of henna tattoos, even those who also have permanent ones.”

Schantz says her specialty is traditional henna tattoos on hands and feet, but she also enjoys “adorning pregnant bellies, arms, legs, shoulders, backs and bald heads.”

Prices vary with a $10 minimum. Call 216-2123 or email ashevillehenna@gmail.com for more information or to make an appointment. Woolworth Walk is located at 25 Haywood Street.
