Junior League of Asheville announces 2022 Be the Change Grant recipients

Press release from Junior League of Asheville:

Junior League of Asheville is pleased to announce the winners of the 2022 Be the Change Grant: Babies Need Bottoms, Helpmate, Loving Food Resources, Project Dignity WNC, and Read 2 Succeed. They will each be receiving $1,000 to assist them in creating a positive impact in our community.

The Junior League of Asheville had many worthy and qualified applicants for the 2022 Be the Change Grant. We look forward to educating our members and the greater public about the needs and opportunities for community improvement, as well as the services these organizations provide to the citizens of Western North Carolina.  It has long been the mission of the Junior League of Asheville to train and empower women to be community leaders and encourage positive community growth and development.  JLA strives to support regional nonprofit organizations to achieve their goals.

Be the Change Grant funds will help Babies Need Bottoms purchase diaper rash cream to families and caregivers of children in diapers, assist Helpmate in continuing to provide services to survivors of domestic violence,  support Loving Food Resources’ goal of providing nutritious food staples for their clients living with HIV/AIDS and in-home hospice care, help Project Dignity supply schools and social service agencies with menstrual hygiene products so women, and those who menstruate, will not have their education and work schedules interrupted by lack of necessities,  and Read 2 Succeed will be able to provide rising kindergarten students in the Shiloh community with academic-focused pre-k programming this summer.

The Junior League of Asheville would like to thank participants of the Be the Change Challenge, a 5k/10 fun run fundraiser, all of our grant applicants, and the following community sponsors –  Craft Century Homes, embellish asheville, Hillman Beer, Laughing Elephant Yoga, the Manleys, Ninjaville, Sumner Moncrief at Station 114, and Tracey Morgan Gallery.
