Press Release from Junior League of Asheville:

The Junior League of Asheville, Inc. (JLA) announces the 2016 kickoff of their annual Poinsettia Sale to benefit the League’s work in our community.

The 2016 JLA Poinsettia Sale was launched in September and is now open for public orders. Options for purchase are white, red, or pink poinsettias in six inch ($10) or ten inch ($20) pots. Any individual order over $500 is eligible for a 10% discount. This year, for the first time, orders can be placed through the JLA eStore. Members of the JLA can also take orders, or orders may be placed by phone by calling 828-254-5608.

The poinsettias are grown by Dixie Green, Inc. in Centre, Alabama and will be delivered to Asheville on November 17th. Orders may be picked up at Togar Rugs, a locally-owned family business which has graciously offered to allow delivery and distribution from their store.

Last year, over $9,000.00 was raised from this single fundraiser. Brittany Williams, 2016–2017 Vice President of Fund Development, says: “For the past couple of years we have had many community partners who have supported us through the Poinsettia Sale and we are so thankful for each of them. They include the Doubletree in Biltmore Village, Park Ridge Health, Wells Fargo Advisors, Montreat College, and The Van Winkle Law Firm. We look forward to another successful fundraiser to support all the work the JLA does in the community.”

The JLA has been serving the Asheville area and surrounding community since 1925. It is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Since its founding, the Junior League of Asheville has donated nearly $1,000,000.00 to various projects throughout the Asheville community. Through fundraisers such as the Poinsettia Sale, the JLA strives to improve the welfare of the underserved, especially women and children, via local partnership efforts.
