Kate DiCamillo, ambassador for young people’s literature, at Spellbound Bookshop, Dec. 8

Kate DiCamillo, one of the most critically acclaimed and bestselling authors of children’s literature alive today, is visiting Spellbound Children’s Bookshop on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 6:00pm.

Her books have been awarded the Newbery Medal (The Tale of Despereaux, 2004, and Flora & Ulysses, 2014); the Newbery Honor (Because of Winn-Dixie, 2001), the Boston Globe Horn Book Award (The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, 2006), and the Theodor Geisel Medal and Honor (Bink and Gollie, co-author Alison McGhee, 2011; Mercy Watson Goes for a Ride, 2007). She is the current National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, appointed by the Library of Congress.

Some other points of interest about Kate DiCamillo’s career:
• 12 New York Times best-selling titles in all editions
• 20.5 million copies combined in print worldwide
• Books translated into 39 languages
• Two major feature-film adaptations of her books: Because of Winn-Dixie and The Tale of Despereaux

A few notes about the signing:
• There will be a brief reading and Q&A with the author before she begins signing.
• She will only personalize with first names, not with long personal inscriptions.
• Purchase of at least one of Kate’s books at Spellbound is required to attend.

Pre-ordering online from Spellbound is strongly encouraged. Customers who pre-order will be first in line for signing.

Guests are welcome to bring a well-loved book from home to be signed, but only one book from home allowed per each book purchased at Spellbound.
