From a press release:

Katuah Market and Asheville Vegan Society to host benefit for Chicken Rescue and Sanctuary

Asheville – A benefit for Chicken Rescue and Sanctuary — a Union Mills-based no-kill, no-euthanasia haven for neglected, abused and homeless chickens — will take place Sunday, March 29, from 4-6 p.m. at Katuah Market (2 Hendersonville Road, Asheville). The event is sponsored by the market and by the Asheville Vegan Society to raise funds for food, fencing, and housing of the chickens at the sanctuary, which was founded in 2009 and is home to more than 80 birds.

The fundraiser will feature free hors d’oeuvres (vegan) and nonalcoholic beverages, with wine and beer available for purchase. Among the vendors who will be offering food and beverage samples at the event are Smiling Hara Tempeh, No Evil Foods, Ulimana, Oskar Blues, Ararat Wine Distributor and Sour Grapes.

The price of the event is $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 years of age and younger. All funds go directly to the Chicken Rescue and Sanctuary.

The event will also feature a silent auction of local art, fine crafts and other items. Live music will be provided by classical guitarist Paul Bowman, an owner (with his wife Annamaria) of Chicken Rescue and Sanctuary.

Donations to the Chicken Rescue and Sanctuary can also be made by mail. Send checks to 224 South Grove Street, Suite J, Hendersonville, N.C. 28792. Web-based donations can be made through GoFundMe at www.gofundme.com/chickenrescueandsanctuary. For tax-deductible donations of $200 or more, please email bbfcag@yahoo.com.
