Land Of Sky Regional Council now accepting public comments on transportation project programs

To the French Broad River MPO Board Members, TCC Members and interested citizens, stakeholders and media partners:

There are two public input opportunities for the French Broad River MPO Transportation Improvement Program coming up. The TIP is a federally mandated document that outlines transportation investments to be made in the French Broad River MPO planning area which includes all of Henderson County, most of Buncombe and Haywood counties, and parts of Madison and Transylvania counties.

The DRAFT French Broad River MPO 2018-2027 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is available for public comment from April 26 – June 21, 2017. The French Broad River MPO 2018-2027 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is scheduled to go before the MPO Board on June 22, 2017 and incorporates the results of SPOT (STI) 4.0 prioritization process. MPO staff will be taking public comment on the draft TIP from Wednesday, April 26 through Wednesday, June 21. Comments can be emailed to mpo@landofsky.org or by phone at (828) 251-7453 by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21. An in-person public input meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 9 from 5-7 p.m. at the Hi-Tech Center in Waynesville at 112 Industrial Park Dr, Waynesville, NC 28786. This input session will be held jointly by NCDOT Divisions 13 and 14 and the French Broad River MPO. Additionally, comments on the draft 2017-2027 STIP may be submitted to NCDOT by May 16.  Amendments to the 2016-2025 TIP: A number of amendments to the French Broad River MPO 2016-2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) have been proposed to go before the MPO Board on May 25, 2017. Those amendments will change some of the project information in the current TIP, prior to the new 2017-2027 TIP adoption in June. MPO staff will be taking public comment on the proposed amendments from Wednesday, April 26 through Wednesday, May 24. Comments can be emailed to mpo@landofsky.org or by phone at (828) 251-7453 by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24. Comments may also be made at the public hearing for the TIP Amendments at the MPO Board meeting to be held at the Land of Sky Regional Council offices at 339 New Leicester Highway in Asheville, NC at 12:30 p.m. To see a table of the proposed amendments to the TIP, check the MPO TIP website.

In addition:

A public hearing date has been set for I-4759, Liberty Road Interchange project for Tuesday, May 23 from 4-7 PM, in the Gymnasium at St. Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, located at 725 Asbury Road, in Candler from 4 to 7 p.m..  NCDOT will hold an informal drop-in style meeting; interested citizens are encouraged to attend at any time during those hours.  A Local Officials Informational Meeting is expected to be scheduled for earlier in the day.
