LEAF announces fall music lineup

While there’s a lot more to the biannual LEAF festival than just music (healing arts, dance, visual art, spoken word, camping, gathering, water sports, food, hanging out with friends), the lineup announcement always brings welcome surprises. The fall iteration of LEAF takes place Oct. 15-18 and entertainers on the bill — with a distinctly New Orleans flavor — include Aaron Neville, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Rebirth Brass Band, New Orleans Suspects and many others. Local artists include Rising Appalachia, Jeff Thompson, The Resonant Rogues and Lyric, among others.

Press release from LEAF:

LEAF is thrilled to announce the dynamic lineup of performing artists for the Fall 2015 LEAF Festival, taking place October 15-18, 2015 near Asheville at the majestic Lake Eden in Black Mountain, NC.  Celebrate the Spirit of New Orleans at LEAF Festival and artistry from one of the greatest cities in the world with four time Grammy Award winning artist Aaron Neville; Preservation Hall Jazz Band – legendary band touring 150 days per year since 1961; and Rebirth Brass’ whose single “Rebirth of New Orleans” reached #1 on the CMJ Jazz charts and earned the group a 2012 Grammy Award for Best Regional Roots Music Album. Many more will perform on six stages – and Roaming Performing Artists around grounds – over the course of four days!

Ehren Cruz, LEAF Performing Arts Director states, “As we continue the year long celebration of our 20th Anniversary, we invite you to gather your friends and family as we immerse into a full weekend packed with New Orleans funk, big time brass, bayou blues, swampy soul, Mardi Gras Indian traditions and all the sights, sounds, and smells of The Big Easy! The 41st LEAF Festival will be a time to celebrate the art, spirit, and amazing traditions of one of the greatest cities in America! 10 Years post-Katrina, it is our deepest honor to share the beauty and power that lives on in the heart of New Orleans culture. All Families, All Communities, and All walks of life are welcome!”
