In partnership with the NC LiteracyCorps (an AmeriCorps project), the Literacy Council of Buncombe County will offer a full-time position with an application deadline of Monday, May 4. The recruitment and awareness coordinator position will provide an opportunity “to provide direct service tutoring, recruit and orient volunteers, recruit and support students, develop and enhance community partnerships, conduct visibility campaigns and participate in national days of service,” says Literacy Council executive director Ashley Lasher.
Upon successful completion of 1,700 hours of service from August 4, 2015 through July 31, 2016, the AmeriCorps member will receive a living allowance of up to $12,100 and become eligible for a $5,730 educational award.
