Literacy Council announces open AmeriCorps position

Literacy Council of Buncombe County

The Literacy Council of Buncombe County announces their continued partnership with NC LiteracyCorps (an AmeriCorps Project) for the 2014-15 program year, beginning August 1, 2014.

The NC LiteracyCorps places members at campus and community-based literacy organizations, providing literacy tutoring to youth and adults while building program capacity through management of volunteer tutors.

The LiteracyCorps member working with the Literacy Council of Buncombe County will have the opportunity to provide direct service tutoring; recruit, orient, and support volunteers; recruit, support, and assess students; develop and enhance community partnerships; conduct visibility campaigns; and participate in national days of service. NC LiteracyCorps makes available a $12,100 living allowance and $5,550 education award upon successful completion of 1,700 hours of service.
