Local musician Penny White receives Parent’s Choice Award

PRESS RELEASE FROM ASHEVILLE JCC:

For 35 years Penny White has worked at the Asheville Jewish Community Center, first as the Children and Family Programs Director and most recently as the music specialist. Penny has released a CD with many of the songs popular at her weekly sing-alongs for young children. Shabbat Shindig with Penny just won The Parent’s Choice Foundation award for quality children’s media.

The Parent’s Choice Foundation chooses its award recipients based on multiple criteria including developmentally appropriate content, the product’s design and function, the educational value, long-term play value, and the benefits to a child’s social and emotional growth and well-being.

All proceeds from the sale of Shabbat Shindig with Penny go to the scholarship fund for the JCC’s Shalom Children’s Center.

Anyone interested in hearing Penny perform these songs live are welcome to join the JCC’s weekly musical Shabbat celebration for young children and families on Friday mornings at 10:00 am throughout the school year. Children not enrolled in JCC children’s programs must be accompanied by an adult.
