WNCW personality Joe Kendrick and Moonlight Mile Productions owner Tony Preston have announced that the forthcoming third episode of their Southern Songs and Stories documentary series will feature Asheville quartet Tellico. The two are hitting the road with the band, and they’ve also launched a crowdfunding campaign to seek financial support while documenting “the music of the South and the artists who make it.”

More information from Kendrick:

It’s time to celebrate the music of the South and the artists who make it. We’re all set to make episode three of Southern Songs and Stories, with our focus on western NC acoustic quartet Tellico. This week, we hit the road to chronicle the band’s live performances and get to know who they are as artists and people, plus we’ll get a look at some key artists that influenced their Appalachian roots sound.

We hope you may take a look at our crowdfunding page and consider helping us make the show a reality. There are many ways that we have to thank you, including an invitation to our private screening of the episode with a performance from Tellico on November 15th. Our previous documentaries, on Aaron Burdett and The Honeycutters, are found on our Southern Songs and Stories website.

Tellico’s music is a familiar friend from the first notes: acoustic music rooted in Appalachian traditions that is fresh and new, with notes as sharp as morning sunshine. But uncovering all the layers of what makes them special can become a kind of captivating mystery story. Here you have music that both respects and reinvents its lineage. Tellico can appeal to die-hard old-time, bluegrass, ragtime and blues fans while bending the ears of folks who never liked songs that even came close to a pair of overalls.

Thanks for considering supporting our campaign! With your help, we can realize our dream of making Southern Songs and Stories a full series that celebrates the best in music and culture from our region.
