Megan Shepherd releases a sequel to “The Madman’s Daughter,” launch party on Jan. 28

Megan Hansen Shepherd, originally from Brevard and now living in Asheville, announces the publication of her second Young Adult novel, HER DARK CURIOSITY. A party to celebrate the book’s publication will be held at Highland Books in Brevard on Tuesday, January 28 from 5:00 – 7:00, and all are invited to attend and meet the author. There will be refreshments as well as free bookmarks and other swag.

If your curiosity is brimming over to find out what happened to THE MADMAN’S DAUGHTER (Juliet Moreau in Shepherd’s first book in the trilogy), then HER DARK CURIOSITY will answer your burning questions! Months have passed since Juliet returned to London after escaping her father’s island, and she is trying to rebuild a normal life after witnessing Dr. Moreau’s horrific legacy. As people close to Juliet fall victim to a murderer who leaves a macabre calling card of three clawlike slashes, Juliet fears one of her father’s creations may have also escaped the island. As Juliet strives to stop a killer before Scotland Yard does, she finds herself once more in the midst of scandal and danger.
THE MADMAN’S DAUGHTER received rave reviews from readers and reviewers alike, including a starred review from SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL: “The fast-paced book is rife with excitement, romance, and intrigue.” BOOKLIST said: “Anyone who doesn’t pick up the next volume is mad!” and follows with this recommendation for HER DARK CURIOSITY: “Shepherd’s integration of romance into her nods to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dracula, Frankenstein, and Jack the Ripper is masterful, and she does not back down from a hugely dark cliff-hanger ending. Bosoms, prepare to heave—and throats, prepare to scream.”

Shepherd attended Brevard High School and UNC-Chapel Hill, studied abroad in Costa Rica, Spain and Scotland, and served in the Peace Corps in Senegal. Her travel experiences, as well as her love of the TV show LOST, inspired her to write her own stories of adventure. Foreign rights to THE MADMAN’S DAUGHTER have been sold in numerous countries, and Paramount Studios has optioned the book for a movie.

Highland Books is located at 277 N. Broad Street in Brevard, N.C. Call 828-884-2424 for more information about the book party. More information on Shepherd can be found at www.meganshepherd.com
