On Monday, Feb. 23, the Asheville Chapter of American Meteorological Society hosts a special event on the UNC-Asheville campus — Dr. Marshall Shepherd of the University of Georgia will give a talk about his career and some perspectives on weather and climate. Dr. Shepherd will share his experiences and lessons over the past two decades from his career as a scientist at NASA to his current role as Director of the Atmospheric Sciences Program at the University of Georgia. Dr. Shepherd will also highlight pitfalls along the way and opportunities such as becoming the president of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and host of The Weather Channel’s WxGeeks. Dr. Shepherd encourages a lively and interactive Q&A session.The event is open to the public and there will be no charge to attend.
