Former board chair and current Statehouse (District 116) candidate Nathan Ramsey (R) endorsed Republican Mike Fryar for County Commission in District 2. Here’s the press release from the Fryar campaign:
Nathan Ramsey, former Chairman of the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners, announced his endorsement today of Mike Fryar, Republican candidate for Commission in the Second District of Buncombe County. In statement released this afternoon, Ramsey said:
“There are many good people running for Buncombe County commissioner this year but I’m especially excited about the candidacy of Mike Fryar. Mike is a small-business owner and long time resident of our community. He understands what is needed for business owners to expand and create jobs.”
“Mike is a strong supporter of education — especially technical and vocational training so folks can obtain a real world job that can support their family. He will make sure every dollar that the county spends is spent efficiently, transparently, and results-oriented.
“Mike has fought wasteful county spending, forced annexation by cities, and the mindless regulations that especially hurt those in the county barely getting by. But most importantly, Mike Fryar will do what he says he will do: no political games, no hidden agendas, just straight talk, hard work, and positive action for the benefit for everyone in Buncombe County.
“Mike Fryar will work for everyone in the county, regardless of your politics, background, or station in life. Please vote for him in the primary election on May 8 and again in November!”

Mike Fryar has been a resident of Buncombe County for 50 years. He attended A.C. Reynolds High School and served in the U.S. Navy. A self-made man, Mike started his career sweeping floors for the legendary Banjo Matthews — working his way up the ladder and eventually starting his own engine business, Fryar Performance, in 1980.
Mike’s skills were acquired over the years by on-the-job training, practical experience, and hard work. A small business owner now for 32 years, Mike is a no-nonsense Conservative with an eye for the bottom-line.
Mike’s and his wife Brenda have two daughters and a grandson. He’s served on his Homeowners Association Board for seven years, three consecutive terms as President.
