The National Weather Service has issued a Nov. 25 Freezing Rain Advisory for much of Western North Carolina, predicting that accumulating ice tonight is likely to create treacherous driving conditions.

ABUNDANT MOISTURE WILL STREAM NORTHWARD INTO THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS FROM A GULF OF MEXICO LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TONIGHT. THIS MOISTURE WILL MOVE INTO VERY COLD AND DRY AIR IN PLACE ACROSS THE CAROLINA MOUNTAINS AND NORTH CAROLINA FOOTHILLS. COLD TEMPERATURES LEADING UP TO THE PRECIPITATION WILL PERMIT SURFACES
TO BECOME COLD AND SUPPORT ICE ACCUMULATIONS WITH ANY FREEZING RAIN THAT FALLS.
