NC Stage announces spring classes

Press release from N.C. Stage:

NC Stage will be launching three new classes this spring.

A “Methods and Techniques” course will be offered for 8th – 12th grade students. This class will delve into a variety of acting methods that will expand the actor’s toolbox. Students will begin to discover which techniques resonate with them as an actor. The course culminates with a student showcase of 10 minute plays. This 12-week class will be offered from 4-5:30 on Thursdays, January 19th – April 6th and will be taught by Rebecca Fisher, Masters of Theatre Education from SCAD.

A “Page to Stage” class will be offered for 4th – 7th grades. Students will study scripts and analyze short scenes that will help the actor transform the text from mere lines into an exciting performance! This course is great for learning how to develop your character into a three-dimensional character. This 12-week class will be offered from 4-5:30 on Mondays, January 16th – April 3rd and will be taught by beloved local actress Trinity Smith, a seasoned alum across the stages of Asheville.

Finally, our “Storytelling and Improvisation” course will be offered for 1st – 3rd grade students. This class will explore the building blocks of drama through games, group work, and basic theatre techniques! This class will encourage creativity while enhancing the students’ ability to grasp the foundation basis of theatre. This 12-week class will be offered from 4-5:30 on Tuesdays, January 17th – April 4th and will be taught by Rebecca Fisher, Masters of Theatre Education from SCAD.
