Press release from NC WARN:
We are hosting a roadshow across the state in support of our new statewide Emergency Methane Action campaign to ban the use and import of fracked gas in North Carolina. We are excited that NC NAACP is our partner in this campaign!
When: Wednesday, April 26th at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Pack Memorial Library
67 Haywood Street, AshevilleCo-sponsored by the NC NAACP, Dogwood Alliance, Community Roots, and Alliance for Energy Democracy.
In this discussion with Executive Director Jim Warren and community organizers, we will:
- Discuss the new statewide campaign to ban the use of fracked gas, our feasible – and vital – opportunity to prevent runaway global warming and rising sea levels.
- Share thoughts on climate change’s impacts on North Carolinians – through flooding, heat waves, air pollution, wildfires – and the economic injustice of spiraling electricity rates to pay for unneeded fracked gas pipelines and power plants.
- Encourage you to join the clean energy revolution by promoting the new Faith in Solar campaign.
- Learn about campaigns to stop logging our southern forests that are being burned in European power plants, prevent Duke Energy from building more unneeded fracked gas burning plants in Asheville, and how Asheville might become its own utility!
Free and open to the public.
I’m the one basically who got municipal power entered into the Downtown Master Plan, but I would not trust NC WARN to create our municipal power plan.
