NCDOT crews to repair New Leicester Highway locations

Press release from N.C. Department of Transportation:

N.C. Department of Transportation crews will repair two significant depressions on the north end of New Leicester Highway starting on Monday, March 23.

The repair projects — one just north of Meadows Town Road and the other just east of Sandy Mush Creek Road — will take about one week and require residents to utilize a marked detour in Buncombe County.

Drivers heading west on New Leicester Highway will turn right on Meadows Town Road and follow it for two miles. They will then turn left onto Sandy Mush Road and follow it about 3.5 miles to access New Leicester Highway. Those heading east on New Leicester Highway will use Sandy Mush Road and Meadows Town Road.

The depressions and cracks in the asphalt have formed over the winter due to excessive rain. NCDOT crews will repair the areas by removing the existing surface, digging into the ground to install new drainage and rebuild the road section before paving a new surface.
