New Hampshire jazz group the Soggy Po’ Boys play Jack of the Wood, July 12

On Sunday, June 12, between playing numbers for a growing and excitable crowd, the Soggy Po’ Boys finally explained the band’s name: “It’s like the sandwich. Or the state of being.”

Soon after, the spirited musicians also explained their presence aside College Street. The New Hampshire-based group is in town for several shows in Asheville, busking to warm up for later gigs.

Those who didn’t get enough of the traveling octet’s cinematically jazzy, horn-laden sidewalk set can catch the band at Jack of the Wood tonight, Sunday, July 12, at 9 p.m. The show is free, but donations are encouraged.
