New traffic pattern for Brevard Road, crossing I-26

Press release from N.C. D.O.T:

Drivers heading north on Brevard Road will be shifted onto the newly constructed section of a bridge over Interstate 26 starting Tuesday morning.

The contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will place new pavement markings and move traffic signal heads to accommodate the new traffic pattern on Monday night.

Currently, traffic is driving on the old bridge over the interstate. Starting Tuesday, they will be driving on the newly constructed portion of bridge.

This traffic shift completes another portion of the $47.4 million project to improve the I-26/Brevard Road interchange. The contractor, Blythe Development, is nearly 90 percent complete with the overall project.
