November food drive to benefit MANNA FoodBank

Press release from Focal Point Coworking:

Focal Point Coworking will be collecting canned goods and dry goods throughout the month of November with all items to benefit MANNA FoodBank. According to MANNA, “For every 1.2 pounds of food donated, MANNA can provide 1 meal. For every $1 donated, MANNA helps provide 4 meals.”

The collection box is located at 125 S. Lexington Avenue, Suite 101, Asheville NC 28801 in the South Slope area of downtown Asheville. Donations can be made Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm.

“In the spirit of giving this holiday season, we want to give back to our local community by supporting those in need.”, notes Focal Point Founder, Alison Pages. “Hunger is a reality, and we need to step up to make it a hunger-free WNC. To help end hunger, we encourage the community to donate to our food drive or make a financial contribution directly to MANNA.”

Another unique aspect of the food drive is a focus on healthy foods. Donors are encouraged to donate the kinds of foods that have the most positive impact—such as peanut butter, canned tuna fish, and low sodium canned vegetables and soups—rather than less nutritious snack items or even simply those foods from the back of the cabinet that rarely get eaten.
