Overnight closures coming to I-26 in Henderson County

Press release from N.C. Department of Transportation:

Sections of Interstate 26 in Henderson County will close three straight nights starting tonight for operations related to a traffic shift and drainage improvements as part of the I-26 widening project.

Tonight: I-26 East will close from Exit 44 (U.S. 25 Business) to Exit 53 (Upward Road).
Detour: Follow U.S. 25 Business (Asheville Highway) to U.S. 176 to Upward Road.

Wednesday: I-26 East will close from Exit 40 (Airport Road) to Exit 44 (U.S. 25 Business).
Detour: Follow N.C. 280 (Airport Road) east to U.S. 25 (Hendersonville Road) and rejoin I-26 at Exit 44 (U.S. 25 Business).

Thursday: I-26 West will close from Ext 44 (U.S. 25 Business) to Exit 40 (Airport Road).
Detour: Follow U.S. 25 Business (Hendersonville Road) North to N.C. 280 West to rejoin I-26.
Traffic lights on the detour routes will remain green longer to accommodate additional overnight interstate traffic.

Transportation officials remind drivers to remain alert, avoid distractions and obey all posted signs inside the work zone.
