Parkway Playhouse stages Grease, July 30-Aug. 13

Parkway Playhouse has announced that Grease, the popular 1950’s-based musical comedy will replace West Side Story in the theatre’s 2016 Season.

Grease which is set in 1959, and follows the antics of a group of high-school students as they sort out friendships, romance, and the future- all while being swept up in the emotional roller coaster of their final year in High School. Written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease is easily one of the most popular musicals in the world; with many Broadway and West End Revivals, as well as countless regional and academic productions. Grease inspired an enormously popular film that featured John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

Parkway Playhouse’s production of Grease will run weekends July 30 through August 13, and is being directed by Andrew Gall with choreography by Julie Becton Gillum. Ginger Haselden is serving as the music director. The cast includes roughly 30 performers from across Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee.
