Planning Board short-term rental text amendments work session scheduled for April 1

News release from Buncombe County:

As part of the text amendment process, the Buncombe County Planning Board has added work sessions and additional listening sessions around proposed text amendments to Buncombe County’s development ordinance related to short-term rentals. Find the draft language and frequently asked questions here. If you would like to make public comment but cannot attend sessions, please email your comments to planninginfo@buncombecounty.org.

In January, the Planning Board held a special listening session to hear three hours of public comment related to the proposed text amendment changes. Watch the video.

Purpose of Planning Board
The Planning Board is a legislative board tasked with making recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. The Planning Board has no authority to enact ordinances but does forward recommendations on ordinance language to the Board of Commissioners. Only the Board of Commissioners can approve ordinances that create or change law.

Purpose of work sessions
The primary purpose of the work sessions will be data and text amendment language evaluation and review. No decisions or recommendations will be made at the work sessions.
