Porch Light Counseling expands into former Our Voice space, holds Meet the Therapists event

Press release from Porch Light Counseling:

Porch Light Counseling has added three new therapists and relocated to the space left vacant when Our Voice moved to the Family Justice Center. Porch Light joins several other counseling and massage therapy practices in the accessible first-floor suite at 44 Merrimon Avenue. Following a successful first year, the unique counseling practice continues to focus on issues relevant to a diverse range of Asheville families. The move expands Porch Light’s specialties to include services for new dads, grief counseling, recovery support, and expanded couples counseling and parenting support, in addition to existing services for clients struggling with infertility, pregnancy and postpartum depression and anxiety, and issues related to gender and sexuality.

The three new therapists joined Porch Light Counseling in August. Andrew Bednarzik, LPC specializes in working with new parents, especially dads; the transition to adulthood; and issues related to men. Tamara Hanna, LPC is a certified grief recovery specialist and also specializes in couples counseling and supporting clients who have experienced spiritual trauma. Julia Levine, LCSW has expertise in supporting those recovering from addiction or struggling with self-harm, parenting teens, and navigating high conflict relationships.

Porch Light Counseling co-founders Heather Branham, LCSW; Elizabeth Gillette, LCSW; and Ariel Shumaker-Hammond, MPH/LCSW are excited to be able to expand Porch Light’s offerings to local individuals, couples, and families. The trio joined forces last summer to provide counseling services focused on pregnancy and parenting-related mental health concerns, relationships, and the LGBTQ community. Porch Light Counseling is hosting a Meet the Therapists reception at their new location on Friday, October 14th from 5 to 7PM. The public is invited to tour the new space and learn more about Porch Light’s specialties. Visit www.porchlightcounselingasheville.com/news for details.
