Race to the Taps inaugural 4-miler set for Highland Brewing
Runners and craft beer enthusiasts, don’t miss the first running race in the inaugural Race to the Taps series on Saturday, April 25, at Highland Brewing Company. The run is no pub crawl! The race is a chip-timed 4-miler starting and ending in the outdoor Meadow at Highland Brewing and features a mixed terrain course through the surrounding neighborhood appropriate for the seasoned runner and runner/walkers.
Pre-registration for the race is only $38 and includes a custom Race to the Taps koozie, T-shirt for the first 500 runners and a complimentary beer pour for runners 21 and older after the race. Race-day registration will be $40.
In keeping with the theme of the series, craft beer centric prizes will be awarded for the top three male and female overall finishers in each age category as well as custom prizes for the top three male and female in Masters and Grandmasters Divisions. In addition to timed awards, there will be prizes awarded for the best dressed “King and Queen of the Taps”, two pop up sprint awards, as well as an award for the runner with the time in the middle of the Pack. The Race to the Taps event at Highland Brewing will feature a post-race festival, with live music from Fritz Beer and the Crooked Beat, food from Mama Dukes Wood Fired Oven and Pho Ya Belly, and of course, brews from Highland Brewing Company.
A portion of the Highland Brewing Company race proceeds benefits Friends of Connect Buncombe – encouraging and supporting the implementation of the Greenways and Trails Master Plan and the construction of greenways throughout Buncombe County.
Produced by the Asheville Radio Group and Kick It Events, The Race to the Taps is a series of six, 4-mile running races. Future races include Pisgah Brewing Company on Friday, June 12, Asheville Pizza and Brewing on Merrimon Avenue on Saturday, July 18, an evening race in South Slope of Downtown Asheville Saturday, August 8 featuring Catawba Brewing, Green Man Brewery, Twin Leaf Brewery and Wicked Weed Brewing. The fifth race will be held on Saturday, October 3 at Oskar Blues Brewery and the final race of the series on Saturday, October 31 at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.
