Renaming of Fire Station #6

 

PRESS RELEASE: 

The Asheville Fire Department will honor Firefighter Raymond J. Flowers on May 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. by naming the City of Asheville Fire Station Six after him.  Raymond Flowers was tragically killed in the line of duty on May 26, 1982 when the roof of the West Asheville Baptist Church collapsed on him while he was fighting a fire there and he succumbed to his injuries.  FF Flowers was assigned to Engine 6 and had been a member of the Asheville Fire Department since 1981.

 

The ceremony will take place at 970 Haywood Rd in Asheville and is open to the public and media. Parking will be available in the lot across the street from the West Asheville Baptist Church which is located at 926 Haywood Rd.
