Here’s the press release from the campaign of Democrat Hayden Rogers, who lost his bid against Republican Mark Meadows to represent the 11th District of Western North Carolina in the U.S. Congress:
Rogers Statement on 11th Congressional District Results
“I entered this race nine months ago because I care about the people of these mountains. I believe that Western North Carolina deserves a representative who will always put people before partisanship. Although this race was an uphill battle before it even started, I chose to run because I believed it was the right thing to do for the people of Western North Carolina, our country, and our democratic process.
This has been a hard fought and spirited campaign. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet thousands of people across Western North Carolina throughout this campaign. I congratulate Mr. Meadows on his victory and wish him success as our next U.S. Representative.
I have been truly humbled by the dedication, encouragement, and generosity that so many across Western North Carolina have shown me throughout this journey. Thank you. I also want to thank my family, especially my wife, Donna, and my daughters Torin and Lochlan, for standing by my side every step of the way. Thank you to my campaign staff and volunteers who worked day and night until the very end. It really has been an honor to have had this fantastic opportunity to compete for the chance to represent the people of these mountains that I care so much about. God has truly blessed me.
Though this election has ended, my commitment to helping Western North Carolina remains. Despite tonight’s outcome, I will continue working to improve our communities and move Western North Carolina and this great nation forward.”
