Sandy Mush Community Center Food Pantry receives $1K from Food Lion

Press release from the Sandy Mush Food Pantry:

Sandy Mush Community Center Food Pantry has received $1,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation just in time to help feed our local residents. The SMCC Food Pantry will use the gift to purchase food items and put towards our healthy food initiative.

“We are extremely thankful to Food Lion for their generous donation to our Food Pantry. These funds will help to relieve the ever-increasing needs of our neighbors experiencing food insecurity and to help us introduce healthier foods into their diets,” said Jean Barbara.

Our goal is to improve the health and well-being of our community by providing food that includes healthier options in a welcoming community environment. We serve an average of 50 households and 170 individuals each month. Our Food Pantry is run by dedicated volunteers and by the generous donations and support we receive from our community members and organizations like Food Lion.

Established in 2001, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $12 million in grants.
