SBA and AARP to Host FREE Small Business Speed Mentoring in Hendersonville NC

Charlotte, NC – The U.S. Small Business Administration North Carolina District Office and AARP will host a special Encore Entrepreneur Speed Mentoring event on August 31, at Never Blue Tapas in Hendersonville NC.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet in brief sessions with small business experts and local lenders. Additional sponsors are Western Carolina SCORE and the Small Business & Technology Development Center. A-B Tech Small Business Center, Mountain BizWorks, and Mountain Workforce Development are also participating in the event. Refreshments will be served.

The “Summer of Encore Mentoring” is part of a joint initiative by the SBA and AARP to promote entrepreneurship among individuals ages 50 and older. These events match encore entrepreneurs with mentors, business owners and community leaders who have small business experience and can provide advice, expertise and technical assistance.

With one in four individuals ages 44 to 70 interested in becoming entrepreneurs, and 63 percent of Americans planning to work during retirement, small business ownership is a good option. Small business owners with long-term counselors see bigger sales, hire more workers and last longer. SBA and AARP will provide the training and mentoring services older entrepreneurs need to successfully start and grow businesses and create jobs.
