Here’s the press release from the U.S. Forest Service:
MURPHY, N.C. – The U.S. Forest Service Tusquitee Ranger District will seasonally close certain roads from Jan. 2 to April 1, 2014. During this period, the roads are susceptible to freezing and thawing, and they become very soft and easily damaged by traffic.
The following roads will close during this period: Beech Creek (#307), Cherokee Lake (#313), Perry Gap (#350), Nelson Ridge (#351), Bearpaw (#435), Derreberry Gap (#6148), Persimmon Creek (#651), Deep Gap (#71), and Panther Gap (#85A).
