Press release from Bright Planning:
Local coffee roaster South Slope Coffee announced today that through the month of May, they’ll be donating a portion of sales to Food Connection’s chef meals disaster relief program.
For every purchase of South Slope Coffee’s 12 oz bag of Luis Ordóñez (Mexico) roast, they’ll donate $3 per bag to Food Connection’s program. Their goal is to sell 200 bags (equivalent to a $600 donation).
“We are very thankful for what Food Connection does to help out our community,” says Luis Hellmund, co-owner of South Slope Coffee. “We look forward to giving back!”
Owned by Venezeulan husband-wife duo Luis Hellmund and Cristina Coll, South Slope Coffee is located in West Asheville and focuses on sourcing highly sustainable, highly traceable coffee from around the globe and custom roasting it to order. Their bags focus on the story of their farmers rather than their own brand. This particular coffee from Mexico is exceptional, says Hellmund, which is why they’ve decided to offer it as their fundraiser roast.
Luis Ordoñez is a well-seasoned farmer from Amatenango de la Frontera, Chiapas, located on the border of Guatemala. The state of Chiapas shares many characteristics with Guatemalan coffee growing conditions. The climate, higher altitude mountains and volcanic soil are the perfect combination for high quality coffee. It is one of the most prolific coffee growing regions in Mexico.
The Luis Ordoñez (Mexico) roast retails at $18.00 for the 12 oz bag and can be shipped nationwide, or delivered locally with contactless delivery.
