The Swannanoa Chamber Music Festival (SCMF) was founded in 1969 by Lili Kraus – one of the foremost pianists of the time. The Festival has been the premier chamber music festival of the Carolinas for these 49 years. In a series of 15 concerts during its annual five-week season, SCMF hosts exceptional classical music performances by internationally acclaimed musicians. These musicians come to the Carolinas to collaborate with each other and hone their craft.

The Festival is a program of Warren Wilson College, which it is proud to call home. The Festival provides scholarships to high school students for participating in workshops for adult amateurs held in the week preceding the concert season.

Artistic director since 2015, Inessa Zaretsky is an award-winning pianist and composer whose performances and compositions have been heard around the world and throughout the United States. She teaches at Mannes College, The New School University, and is also artistic co-director of the Phoenix Chamber Music Series in New York City.
