Teatro del Gusto — Burlesque and Circus Cabaret at The Orange Peel, July 24

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE ORANGE PEEL:

At 8pm on Thursday, July 24th and Sunday August 25th, the series the Orange Peel and Absfest introduced in 2014, called Teatro del Gusto, debuts a brand new season of Burlesque and Circus Cabaret, local restaurant partners and live music. These events are a collaboration between the always zesty Orange Peel, and the producers of Asheville’s annual ABSfest (Americana Burlesque & Sideshow Festival), which just celebrated its 10th year.

What’s in store? Well, Teatro del Gusto means Theater of Pleasure – and this event is a feast for all the senses! Enjoy a delicious evening of comedy, acrobatics, juggling, live music and burlesque at Asheville’s premier venue and desserts included at intermission for your ticket price. This year, we’re welcoming artists from near and far: Chatty the Mime – a juggler from NOLA, Sadie Hawkins – the ever popular gravity defying fireball aerialist from Atlanta, Browncoat Bellydance troupe, local nerd bellydance darlings, and Boo Velvet – another local Asheville burlesque and sideshow performer of great repute. Our burlesque performers will go all the way to pasties and g-strings – so it’s certainly 18+.

You can be consumed and devoured by love, ideas, obsessions, just as you can devour a delicious treat or whole season of TV on Netflix. Each performer will be examining these ideas in their own discipline. There will also be some audience participation when we do a Dating Game style skit!

The July performance features live music at intermission from one of Asheville’s favorite bands, Red Honey, and don’t forget, ticket holders enjoy 15% of your food bill at nearby participating food venues on Teatro nights! Just present your Teatro ticket to Storm restaurant, Bhramari Brewing, or Zambra on the show night, and you’ll receive the 15% discount* off the food portion of your check there so you can create a complete Asheville evening on the town! (*alcohol may not be discounted).

Buy tickets now – the show is fully seated and open to ages 18+. The next one will be August 25th, and tickets are on sale for that one, too.
