Terpsicorps season starts with May 4 event

From a press release:

Terpsicorps season starts with May 4 event

The Muses are coming!

This Sunday, May 4, at 730pm, the outreach wing of Terpsicorps presents an eclectic evening of dance performed by aspiring young artists.  Terpsicorps has created a performing opportunity open to all serious minded dance students in Western North Carolina called The Muses of Terpsicorps.  This small company consists of thirteen pre-professional dancers of varying ages and experience levels who have committed to months of classes and rehearsals in order to put on an exciting mixed repertory program. The company started while Terpsicorps’ artistic director Heather Maloy was on faculty at Center Stage Dance Studio where it had four successful seasons.  Terpsicorps is however a company for the whole of Asheville and it only seemed right to open its student wing to dancers from all local studios.   This year’s artists, with the youngest only in 7th grade, will perform a variety of works displaying a range of abilities. The program includes one neoclassical and two contemporary world premieres by Heather Maloy, along with an excerpt from “Swan Lake.”
