The American Institute of Architects celebrates National Architecture Week

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is celebrating National Architecture Week, April 10-16, with the AIA Asheville Chapter presenting two events that will showcase talented architects who have made positive contributions to our communities both locally and regionally.

Co-sponsored and presented by Modern Asheville, these free events, open to AIA members and the public, include a discussion on North Carolina contemporary home design at Pack Library on Tuesday, and a mid-century home stroll in the Grove Park Country Club neighborhood on Thursday.

Pack Libraries’ Lord Auditorium
Tuesday, April 12, 6-7 p.m.

IN SITU STUDIO, a Raleigh based firm, will be sharing their philosophy on contemporary home design in North Carolina. Join us Tuesday night at 6pm in the Lord Auditorium and welcome principals Erin Lewis and Matt Griffith as they articulate details of their mindful design practice inspired by many things including regionalism, context and culture. Grove Park Country Club Neighborhood
Thursday, April 14, 5 -7 p.m.

The J. Bertram King Mid-Century Home Stroll will consist of visiting three 1950’s era Bert King designed homes in the Grove Park Country Club neighborhood for one evening only. This includes Bert King’s own home where he lived for decades. Stop by for refreshments and meet the proud home owners along with folks from AIA and Modern Asheville.
