The Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new extension of the Oklawaha Greenway to Berkeley Mills Park

PRESS RELEASE:

The City of Hendersonville and the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce announce the official grand opening of the new extension of the Oklawaha Greenway from Patton Park area to Berkeley Mills Park. The ribbon cutting will be held on Friday, July 29th at 4:00pm at the kiosk where the greenway extension begins. (Attendees are encouraged to park at Patton Park and walk to the new extension area where the kiosk is located.)

Following the ribbon cutting, Hands On! Child’s Museum will be sponsoring a “Bike Rodeo” for children and families. The rodeo includes a bike decorating station, stop on a dime, a zig zag course, and a long roll challenge. Prizes will be awarded.

We would like to recognize the contribution of the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). We received a Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation grant that made this new extension possible. Also special thanks to Trace and Company of Mountain Home, NC who were the general contractors for the project.

Additional sponsors include: Blue Ridge Bicycle Club, Mountain True, Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy, Sweet Frog, and Friends of the Oklawaha.
The public is invited to attend and families and children are welcome to be a part of the Hands On! Event.
