(May 2022) – The Ramble Charitable Fund at The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) recently awarded nine grants totaling $76,500. The Ramble Charitable Fund was established to improve the quality of life in designated Buncombe County communities by supporting education, economic development, health care and other projects that promote community development. With these grants, total grantmaking since 2008 is $661,406.
Recent grants are:
$5,000 to A Therapist Like Me to provide free mental health services to a diverse population of people with low incomes.
$5,000 to Arts For Life to provide high-quality visual arts instruction for children with chronic illness and their families.
$10,000 to Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity to provide home repairs for homeowners with low incomes.
$6,500 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina for a mentoring program for youth with inadequate resources.
$10,000 to Carolina Day School/Horizons to support a summer enrichment program for students from families with low incomes.
$10,000 to Getting Back to the Basics for an enrichment education program to help children with inadequate resources overcome learning-loss.
$10,000 to Helping at Risk Kids to address unmet needs and provide enrichment opportunities for children in the welfare system.
$10,000 to Helpmate for an emergency shelter program for people experiencing domestic violence.
$10,000 to Pisgah Legal Services to provide free civil legal assistance and advocacy for families with low incomes.
The Community Foundation works with families, businesses and nonprofits to strengthen communities through the creation of charitable funds and strategic grantmaking.
