PRESS RELEASE FROM UNC ASHEVILLE:
The Tibetan Monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery will give a public lecture and guided meditation on Friday, Oct. 21 at UNC Asheville. These events are free and open to everyone.
The lecture, The Psychology of Enlightenment, will take place at 11 a.m. on Oct. 21 in UNC Asheville’s Sherrill Center, in the Mission Health Mountain View Room. This lecture is part of the university’s Humanities Lecture series. The Humanities Lectures, components of courses taken by all students as part of the university’s liberal arts curriculum, are also free and open to the public.
The guided meditation will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 on the UNC Asheville Quad, or, in case of inclement weather, in the Sherrill Center Mission Health Mountain View Room.
The monks, who visited UNC Asheville in 2014, are from the Drepung Loseling Monastery Center for Tibetan Buddhist Studies, Practice and Culture, which is affiliated with Emory University in Atlanta. The monks’ appearance at UNC Asheville is presented in partnership with LEAF Community Arts; the monks will participate in the 43rd LEAF Festival, which takes place Oct. 20-23.

Maybe they should meditate on the ugly legacy of Buddhist violent extremism and aggression.
