UNC Asheville readies for largest freshman class in a decade

From UNC Asheville:

UNC Asheville will welcome 645 new first-year students to campus – the largest freshman class in a decade – on Friday, Aug. 15, when the residence halls open to new students and the university holds its annual Convocation ceremony. Some 380 new transfer students have also enrolled for the 2014 fall semester.

This year’s freshman class will be the largest since 2004, when 707 first-year students enrolled. Last fall, 596 first-year students enrolled at UNC Asheville. As of August 2014, applications to UNC Asheville also increased more than eight percent from the same period last year, with a 30 percent increase over five years.
