From the press release from UNC Asheville News Services:
UNC Asheville is now accepting applications for a new K-12 teacher licensure program in Health and Physical Education. The program, approved this spring by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction, begins in Fall 2012.
This addition to UNC Asheville’s Teacher Education Program combines health education and physical education as complementary courses of study. Those enrolled will learn how to implement a comprehensive program for students that provides skills to reduce risk-taking behaviors and encourage personal health promotion.
The Health and Physical Education licensure is open to students currently working toward a bachelor’s degree in Health and Wellness Promotion at UNC Asheville, and to transfer and post-baccalaureate students with equivalent course work.
For more information, contact Andrea Martinez, UNC Asheville teacher recruitment/retention liaison, at 828/251-6304, or email teach@unca.edu.
