United Way of Transylvania County seeks grant review volunteers

United Way of Transylvania County Allocations Team volunteers follow group orientation by dividing into focus area teams to start reviewing grants at the 2018 training session.

Press release from the United Way of Transylvania County:

United Way of Transylvania County (UWTC) seeks individuals with experience and expertise in management  and nonprofits, and people interested in the focus areas of Health, Education and Financial Stability to join its Allocations Team. Team members will read and evaluate grant applications from local programs before making program recommendations to applicants and funding recommendations to United Way’s Board.

This opportunity invites volunteers to participate in UWTC’s annual allocations process. The process uses community input to ensure accountability for all programs receiving funds allocated by UWTC.

Allocations Team members will conduct site visit, meet with program representatives, and evaluate online applications and supporting documents. Allocations Teams will submit their initial reviews by Friday, April 19, at noon.

Allocations Team Volunteer Training will be held Friday, March 22, from 10 a.m. until noon. The training session includes confidentiality and code of ethics declaration, conflict-of-interest assessment, process overview, and assignments to focus area review teams. Pre-registration is requested; sign up through VolunteerTransylvania.org or contact UWTC by noon Thursday, March 21 to receive location details.

For more information about the entire grant process, go to United Way of Transylvania County’s website; Resources Tab; RFP General Guidelines, to access this page: https://www.unitedwaytransylvania.org/rfp-general-guidelines.
