Veterans to demonstrate against Trump, Cawthorn at Asheville Airport

Press release from Veterans Against Trump Cawthorn:

Military veterans of all branches of the Armed Services will gather near Asheville Airport at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, to demonstrate against President Donald Trump and 11th District Congressional candidate Madison Cawthorn. Trump, who will be touring a Mills River business, arrives in Asheville as the Republican National Convention gets underway in Charlotte today,

“Both Trump and his acolyte Cawthorn profess to admire and respect veterans but they have shamelessly used the military and veterans as props in their campaigns,” said Bruce Macdonald, Navy veteran and an organizer of the event. “We veterans are tired of politicians expressing their admiration for our service and then advocating policies and making personal attacks that demean the uniform and the very things that members of the Armed Forces and veterans stand for.”

“Trump’s abuse of the military and his Generals is well known, from the ill-conceived military parades to the use of active duty military troops to suppress peaceful civilian demonstrators. Locally, Madison Cawthorn has shown his disrespect for veterans by misrepresenting his acceptance to the U.S. Naval Academy and then refusing to admit his deceit,” said Macdonald. “Western North Carolina veterans are looking for candidates with integrity and principle, not wannabe veterans,”
