Victim assistance centers aid those impacted by Helene

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has announced that two Victim Assistance Centers (VAC) have been scheduled to open in Macon and Buncombe counties to assist those affected by Hurricane Helene.

A VAC will open in the Macon County town of Franklin on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

The VAC will be located at the Macon County Public Health Center, located at 1830 Lakeside Dr., Franklin, N.C., 28734 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A second VAC will open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Old GAP Store in the Asheville Mall, located at 3 Tunnel Road, Asheville, N.C., 28805.

“The Department of Insurance will continue to host events to help with insurance claims and other needs,” Commissioner Causey said. “We are committed to working with local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, rescue squads, civic groups, charities and churches to help Hurricane Helene victims.”
