Voluntary evacuations recommended in Haywood County as Tropical Storm Ida nears

Press release from Haywood County Emergency Services:

Temporary shelters have been established. These locations shall be activated as needed and duly advertised to impacted areas as soon as possible.

Voluntary Evacuation for the affected and damaged areas of Cruso, Bethel, Lake Logan, Center Pigeon, Canton, and Clyde along the Pigeon River in Haywood County and encouraged and advised.

County employees are stationed and prepared to work with NC DOT and other debris removal/infrastructure entities to ensure the safe and efficient restoration of essential services, such as, but not limited to power, water, roadway access and medical supplies as needed.
