WCU Stage and Screen presents ‘Noises Of,’ Nov. 8-11

Press release from Western Carolina University:

Hilarity Ensues with the play within a play, Noises Off, from the WCU School of Stage and Screen

The Western Carolina University School of Stage and Screen, a department of the David Orr Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts presents, Noises Off in Hoey Theater from November 8-11. Noises Off, written by Michael Frayn, is a homage to the art of theatre itself. This hysterically funny “play within a play” is told in three acts: dress rehearsal, the opening performance, and a performance at the end of a disastrous run of a production bound for Broadway. The tension amongst actors and crew boils over in a farcical, slapstick barrage sure to delight all audiences.

Director Colin Wasmund says “Noises Off carries with it a social pertinence and responsibility and finds itself more meaningful to audiences today than it ever was before. In a country where sardines are beginning to feel obsolete, Noises Off not only address the importance of the sardine, but also the importance of the plate which supports the sardine.”

The show is recommended for 13 years and older. The performance dates are as follows: November 8-10 at 7:30 p.m. and November 11 at 3:00 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets please visit arts.wcu.edu/noisesoff. Tickets can also be purchased at the Bardo Arts Center Box Office over the phone at 828.227.ARTS or in person Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students, $15 for seniors 65+, and $20 for adults.
